Welcome to Verge Campus Texas

Welcome to Verge Campus Texas

Hello world! Meet Verge Campus Texas, your newest source for Austin inspired culture and lifestyle content.

Is this some relative offshoot of the tech website “The Verge”? Not at all, we don’t even follow each other on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Verge Campus is NOT A TECH BLOG! It’s an outlet for a community of college creators and curators. It hosts publications for students by students from Boston University to the University of Colorado Boulder. Verge Campus reports on pop-culture, music, art, college lifestyle, sports, and more.

Verge Campus Texas will examine these sections through the eyes and minds of University of Texas at Austin students. To diagnose culture, one must be able to distinguish trends from fads, real from fake, and art from click-bait. Few can do this better than college students. We’ll use this to explain, critique, and reflect on culture and those who’ve shaped it.

That being said, our content won’t always have a mold. If we have something to express, we’ll express it. Our goal is to impact you. The internet gives us unprecedented ability to access and share information. We hope to harness it to tell stories that inform and inspire.

It all begins this week with pieces on a new UT student-run record label, BROCKHAMPTON,  an interview with former Longhorn starting QB and current Seattle Seahawk, Tyrone Swoopes, and much more. Down the line, we’ll move beyond written words to recorded ones, with original podcasts and YouTube mini-series. Lastly, we’ll enter the live music sphere as we host downtown showcases featuring local talent from UT and the greater Austin area.

So, with that, I’d like to be the first to Welcome you to Verge Campus Texas. Join us and stay a while, you won’t want to miss what we have in store.
